USAID project: HIV / AIDS Service Capacity Project in Ukraine

GOAL

 Scale up comprehensive prevention programs for most at risk populations (MARPs) in all regions of Ukraine by building organizational, financial and programmatic capacity of HIV-servicing NGOs.

 IMPLEMENTATION TERM - 2008 – 2012

 PROJECT COVERAGE

The project covers the whole Ukraine. Target regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, and Kherson, Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol.

 COMPONENTS

1. Reducing policy, legal, regulatory, and fiscal barriers inhibiting access to high-quality HIV/AIDS-related services that meet international standards for HIV/AIDS-related prevention, treatment, care, and support.

2. Sustainable delivery of high-quality services through increased institutional capacity of civil society and public sector HIV/AIDS service organizations and coordinating bodies.

 ACTIVITY AREAS

1. Increasing and improve advocacy skills and efforts of civil society organizations to address policy barriers.

2. Increasing the institutional capacity of civil society organizations for most HIV vulnerable populations.

3. Strengthening capacity of regional and local TB/HIV Councils.
